Videogames are not just entertainment. They are media, cultural expressions generating emotions, world views, ideas, and stories. Some even say that game designers have captured the arcane mechanisms of learning. Videogames contaminate pedagogy, communication, advertising, the whole iconography of contemporary imagery and art. But can a game be considered art? With Assassin’s Creed Art (R)Evolution we want to contribute to this discourse. We asked the question to those who study art and who first engaged in Game Art. Assassin’s Creed Art (R)Evolution is the first art catalogue dedicated entirely to one of the most popular and prized videogames in the world. A very peculiar series that has based its core in Art History, fascinating not only players but also critics and researchers. Art forms of all times are brought to life again in the thousands of concepts characterizing the Assassin’s Creed series: a multidimensional and multisensory work of art, to be actively enjoyed through gameplay and its contemporary language.
