Published in collaboration with Kavi Gupta andPaul Kasmin galleries, this volume offers thefirst in-depth look at American artist Roxy Paine’sDioramas. Initially conceived in the 1990s, it wasnot until 2012 that Paine began to make the first ofhis technically ambitious Dioramas, which representan important reinvention of the diorama, thenineteenth-century form of modern spectacle, forthe twenty-first century.• Paine’s series of Dioramas are contemporary discussions in human industries andnature as they inform and reform the collective space. They emerge as psychological,constructed realities of universal “habitats”, no longer present with human figures.Saul Anton is former Senior Editor at BOMB Magazine and writes frequently aboutcontemporary art and culture.
