The Empress and I

The book vividly describes how a treasure trove of modern art now worth billions was acquired for a relative pittance in the 1970s. Its author is a former New York Museum of Modern Art curator who served as art advisor to the Empress of Iran: she cites numerous previously confidentialdocuments, including reports and extensive communications with artists, art dealers, auction houses and notable museum colleagues. The Empress and I explores a unique alliance between two brilliant and beautiful women.
Donna Stein, former Deputy Director of the Wende Museum of the Cold War in Culver City, is also a curator and essayist. She has worked as an art historian and curator for more than 30 years, organizing exhibitions in all media, primarily on nineteenth- and twentieth-century art, for prestigious institutions across the world, including Asia and Europe. She has published over 100articles and more than 40 books and catalogues related to her curatorial interests.
